How to connect Claude to Instagram

Short answer: You need an Instagram account, an Acrium account (free for 14 days, no card) and Claude on any plan, including free. It takes about five minutes. Add Acrium as a custom connector in Claude, sign in, connect Instagram, then ask.

Step by step

Four steps, about five minutes.

  1. Add Acrium to Claude

    In Claude, go to Customize > Connectors, click + Add, then Add custom connector. Name it Acrium, paste https://acriumautomated.com/mcp as the URL, click Continue, then Add. In a chat, switch Acrium on under + > Connectors. On a Team or Enterprise plan, an owner adds it once under Organization settings > Connectors, then you click Connect. The Claude setup guide shows each click.

  2. Sign in to Acrium

    Claude opens an Acrium sign-in. New here? Make an account in the same window: your first workspace gets Connect free for 14 days, no card. Then pick the workspace it may use and the permissions it gets. It never does more than you could.

  3. Connect Instagram in Acrium

    In the Acrium dashboard, sign in to Instagram. Then upload the photos or videos you want posted to the media library, or let Claude import them from a link.

  4. Try a first prompt

    Start with something small you can check. A few below.

Prompts to try first

  • “Write a caption for the newest photo in my media library and schedule it on Instagram for Friday at 6pm.”
  • “Which of my last five Instagram posts did best? Reply to any comments that asked a question.”
  • “Post the same photo to Instagram and Threads with a shorter caption on Threads.”

What Claude can do in Instagram

  • Post and schedule: photos and videos from your Acrium media library, now or later. Scheduled posts show in the dashboard, where you can cancel one before it goes out.
  • Read results: views, likes, comments and shares on published posts, where Instagram reports them.
  • Comments: read comments and reply to them.
  • Same chat, other platforms: TikTok, YouTube, X, Pinterest, Bluesky, Facebook, Threads and LinkedIn.

What it can't do, or won't without you

  • It doesn't run Instagram or Facebook ads. Comments and stats on boosted copies of a post aren't included; read those in Meta Ads Manager or the app.
  • Acrium doesn't make or edit videos. Upload a finished one, or have your AI edit it in its own environment first.
  • It can only post to accounts you've connected in Acrium.

Which Claude plans work

  • Free: works. Anthropic allows one custom connector on the free plan, and Acrium only needs one. If you already use your one slot for something else, you'd have to swap.
  • Pro, Max: works. You add the connector yourself.
  • Team, Enterprise: works, but an owner (or, on Enterprise, someone with the right admin role) has to add the connector for the organization first. Each person then signs in on their own.

Do I need a paid Claude plan?

No. Anthropic allows one custom connector on Claude's free plan, and Acrium only needs one. Pro and Max work too. On Team and Enterprise, an owner adds the connector for the organization, then each person signs in.

Can Claude reply to Instagram comments?

Yes. It can read comments on your published posts and reply to them. Comments on boosted copies (ads) of a post aren't included.

Will Claude post things I haven't seen?

Only if you let it. The Approval Gate can hold posts until you approve them in the Acrium dashboard, and scheduled posts can be cancelled before they go out.

What does it cost?
